Last month I made a two week trip up to Washington for Ben and Whitney's wedding and several other sessions. I did their engagement last year and can't believe how fast that time went by! I guess that will happen when you move to a new state and find out you are pregnant! In case you forgot, here's a little reminder from their engagement session in Woodland, Washington.

My husband was a groomsman and I photographed the wedding. I don't book weddings anymore and went through all of 2013 without shooting any, but I do photograph them for our friends if I am asked. The weather was perfect and everything went amazing. A wedding set in the country with friends, food and drinks is a great way to spend the day. I had a photographer friend come along with me to help assist since I am pregnant, the day went fast and I couldn't be more pleased with these shots. I hope that Ben and Whitney love them too.
Congrats to you two again! and welcome to the Married Club!

I thought once I got my new website going my blog would stay updated, boy was I wrong. My excuse? Summer. I blame it all on summer time. Not only is it busy with work it is for my personal life as well. This blog is very special to me because it combines those two things. I got to photograph my nephews' birth. I was so happy when my sister in law caved to my begging. After all, having a baby is a very private and emotional thing. She thought about it and asked myself and her other sister in laws to be there with them on the big day.

It started with some waiting... She had been induced in the morning and I arrived about an hour after her water had been broken. Things were going slower than her two previous births, Henry wasn't ready just yet. The company while waiting was great. I am very lucky to marry into the Schaefer family and have amazing in laws. Not only do I love my in laws, but my sister-in- laws in-laws are pretty awesome too. Confused? ;) I have gotten to know some of them over the last few years as Julia and Brind got married and started their life together. Henry is their third baby. I started my business right when they had their first, Violet. I got to do a newborn session for her but my work changed quite a bit since then, so I was excited to get to capture this time for them. I felt a mixture of nerves and confidence that I could give them the images that would help them remember how special Henry's birthday was.

It didn't take long for things to move along. Henry was delivered in one contraction! Julia did amazing and he arrived at 2:30pm at 9 pounds and 1 ounce. It all happened so fast and was so amazing. I remember having goosebumps and feeling a little bit shaky with excitement. Seeing a tiny person come into the world and take their first breath is an amazing thing. Henry couldn't have been born into a more perfect family.

While getting their preview together I asked Julia what song she thought might fit Henry's birthday and she said Green by Sister Hazel. It's a little more upbeat than I would usually pick but they are an upbeat family, so I think that it fits perfectly. Thank you Julia and Brind for letting me be there. I am so glad I didn't have to miss it! I love you guys and congratulations on the newest addition. I can't wait to capture Henry as he grows, see you guys in a week for newborn pictures.

Oh and welcome to the world, sweet Henry. Auntie loves you.

Holding my newest nephew.Ignore the mask, I had a cold.

I can't think of a better way to start my first blog post than with love <3
I am hoping to continue posting each session that I photograph as I get them edited.
So, here we go.

Paul & Madeline

Paul and Madeline

Young love, strong love, true love, it's a new love
They're gonna make it through the hard times
And walk those lines
Yeah, these ties'll bind young love

Song by Wynonna Judd

I couldn't help but sing this song over and over again while I was editing this session.

I think I have a special place in my heart when I meet a young couple that is so in love. Maybe because I met my husband when I was only 14. Young love is so amazing and so full of emotions. I am lucky to work with this couple as they prepare to start their life together. I love getting to witness such a love, so ready for the beginning of an amazing adventure.

Madeline and Paul, you guys were so great to work with and I am looking forward to seeing you get married. Your love is so sweet and I hope that you don't listen to anyone that tells you that you are too young, because you aren't. So many people say it but I see something special with you and know you value what a marriage is. Gives me goosebumps. I am so excited for you guys. I can't wait until next summer!
